Nativity Services

20 December 2017

Thank you for supporting our six Nativity Services.  It was good to see the Church so full.  The children, as always, were a great credit to their parents and the school and gave us wonderfully uplifting occasions.

PTA

May I thank all of you for your support of the PTA this term.  There has been a superb range of activities and so many of you have helped in their planning and delivery.  A special thank you to the committee and officers for shouldering the overall responsibility.

Cross-Country

Eight runners from St Lawrence recently took part in the Mid-Sussex Cross Country Championship.  We wish success to the four who are selected for the next round in January.

PTA Lotto

The PTA Lotto winners for the December draw announced at the Christmas bazaar were:  1st Lisa Woodbine #312 - £36;  2nd Heather Hush #285 - £24;  3rd Robert Gillespie #82 - £12.  If you would like more information about the Lotto please ask at the school office or email Clare Schruers on clare@schruers.com.

Well done to the following classes who have been winners of our weekly attendance challenge since the last newsletter:  w/b 27/11/17 - Holly 99.66%, Beech and Ash 98.67%;  w/b 04/12/17 - Chestnut 99.0%, Hornbeam 99.03%;  w/b 11/12/17 - Chestnut 99.70%, Ash 99.30%.

Guitar Lessons

Wendy Hornett teaches guitar privately at St Lawrence on Thursdays and Fridays at lunchtime and after school.  There are spaces from January 2018 if any children are interested, particularly for Year 2 pupils. Please contact Wendy on 07846 064005 for more details.

Staffing News

We shall all be wishing Mrs Hutton well when she begins her maternity leave at the end of term.  Her teaching role will be taken by Miss Hannah Wilson, an experienced foundation stage teacher.  Mrs Soanes will lead the foundation stage team and Mrs Hampson and Mr Hearn, our phase leaders, will step up to be Assistant Head Teachers,  I am pleased to say that Mrs Clare Bell has been appointed [read on]...

PTA Bazaar

This Saturday sees our annual Christmas Bazaar from 12.00-3.00.  Please do support the committee members who have done so much in raising funds for the school this term.  I should also like to mention the Village Traders who always support St Lawrence's events.  I hope our community can support them in turn at this very important time of year for the High Street.

Chess

We have so many chess players which is superb and last week we were successful in a 20-board challenge against Hurstpierpoint College.  Mr Hearn is keen to provide more match experience for more players.  If you think you could spare some time to help, please contact him directly or via the school office.
