22 September 2017

We shall be taking all pupils to the Parish Church on Friday 5th October for Harvest Services:  9.15 - Foundation Stage and Year 1; 10.15 - Years 2 and 3; 11.15 - Years 4, 5 and 6.  Pupils are invited to bring items of fruit and vegetables and/or tinned produce for distribution within the village and to 'shelters'.  Alternatively, financial donations can be made to the Bishop's Diocesan Appeal to aid [read on]...

Swimming Pool

22 September 2017

Work this Summer was extensive but disappointingly unfinished.  We were promised it would be ready for swimming at the start of term but this is far from the case.  As a result, our triathlon will be postponed for the time being.  We are expecting the dome still to be in place by November.

Our Pupils

22 September 2017

As always, our pupils have settled back into school life as if there had been no break.  The new Foundation Stage pupils have already demonstrated impressive sociability and independence.

Lollipop Crossing Patrols

22 September 2017

Helen Smith begins jury service on Monday and so for probably two weeks there will be no crossing patrol in the Cuckfield Road.  Neither West Sussex or ourselves have had any success in finding a crossing patrol for Trinity Road.  If you know of anyone interested in this paid position, please ask them to contact the school office.

PTA Committee

22 September 2017

If you are thinking of joining this committee which does such wonderful work on behalf of all pupils, please come to the first meeting of the year at 7.30 on Tuesday 3rd October in the staff-room.  It is good fun and very rewarding.

Pupils’ Names

22 September 2017

It would be an enormous help to us if you could make sure your child's first name, last name and class are on all documents and items sent into school.  Thank you.

Individual Photographs

22 September 2017

Photographs of individuals and family groups will take place on Monday 2nd October.  You will as usual be invited to purchase if you are happy with the photographs.

Welcome

14 September 2017

A special welcome to all parents and pupils new to the school and, of course, welcome back to those of you who already know St Lawrence well.  It is sure to be another exciting year ahead for all our pupils and staff.  We also welcome Miss Tremble, Miss Mitchell and Miss McDonald as teachers and Mrs Trainer and Mrs McGowan as teaching assistants.  Please forgive the formality of the start-of-term [read on]...

Contacting the School

14 September 2017

For matters concerning your child, your first port-of-call is your child’s class teacher(s).  You can usually catch them at the beginning and end of the school day for a brief imparting of information that you wish them to know at once.  Longer discussions can be had by appoint-ment.  Curriculum meetings for each year-group will be held in the first couple of weeks of term.  There will be parent-consultation evenings in [read on]...

Our Children

14 September 2017

St Lawrence continues to increase in size and we have over 600 pupils this term.  For safety reasons we have to keep the corridors clear, not least to enable swift evacuation if required.  Please always leave buggies outside and please leave your child at the outside door.  Usually, the teacher or teaching assistant will be there to greet the children.  Allowing your child his/her independence is a gift you can [read on]...
