Geography
Geography enables children to make sense of the world around them, as well as their place in it. Our intent is to ensure that our Geography curriculum is inspiring, broad and progressive and allows all children to develop a lifelong love of learning about the world. It will instil a curiosity in our planet and its diverse places, people and environments; pupils are given the tools to become global citizens with a sense of responsibility for the world we live in. Children at St. Lawrence will develop a passion for global knowledge and a respect for the planet and all living things. They will develop an awareness of their own local geography and how it compares to other locations and environments nearby and further afield. Through learning about how others live, children will learn to appreciate and celebrate cultural difference. As they progress through the school children develop a toolkit of geographical knowledge, skills and vocabulary, including locational knowledge and mapping/fieldwork skills.
